Our skin is all about how me keep and manage it. When it comes to taking care of skin, there are always a set of dos and don’ts. But, if it is the case of dry skin, and your skin is already tight and flaky, there are certain rules that you should always follow. But as of now, lets talk about the things that you should never do to your dry skin, never, ever!
If you have a dry skin, you already have dealt with flakes by now. The instant reaction is to scrub those flakes way, but that’s what you should avoid at all costs! Avoid using an exfoliant every day. It is highly recommended to scrub no more than 3 times a week. Avoid scrubs with grainy texture as this is only going to tear your skin apart and make it drier.
Use products with high alcohol content
While a little amount of alcohol is just fine, high amount of it might dry your skin even further. Always read the ingredients of a product before buying it and conduct a basic research. Even better if you can do a patch test before buying it!
Skip moisturization in your daily schedule
If you have a normal to oily skin, skipping moisturization a day or two in a week won’t do any visible harm. But, if you are the one with dry skin, you should never skip moisturization. Instead, follow a proper moisturization schedule. Use a light moisturizer with proper SPF in the morning, and a rich moisturizer in the evening after washing your face. Do include your hands and body in your moisturization schedule too.
In winters, when your skin is especially dry, you can top off your evening routine with some perfect face oils like jojoba oil, argan oil and avocado oil that would help you in trapping the moisture.
Use matte makeup
Well, for dry skin, powder makeup can work if applied strategically. But a general rule of thumb states that you should avoid powder and matte makeup as this is only going to make your skin look drier and further, would give a cakey appearance. The best way out is to go for a liquid or cream makeup with a dewy finish.

Use every mask on the go
You are fond of masks and try almost any mask on the shelf just because it says that it can help your remove blackheads, purify and shrink pores. Well, stop doing this, as the same mask might even be making your skin drier. The best way is to look for masks that promise to add moisture and hydrate your skin.

Long hot showers
Undoubtedly, nothing leaves you more relaxed than a long hot shower. But hot shower might even be the culprit behind your dry skin. Yes, we are not saying you to switch to cold water in winter, but instead, monitor the temperature of the water and reduce the duration for which you are showering. It is highly recommended to avoid washing face with very hot water. If needed mask your face with Vaseline to lessen the damage.
