You skip moisturizer
Moisturizer is a must have, no matter what type of skin you have. Yes, if you have an oily skin, you need to stick with a lightweight formula that won’t make your skin look greasy.

Thinking that you have oily skin
You might or might not have an oily skin, and so you need to analyze your skin better to recognize your skin type. Your T-zone might be oily but cheeks are drier, or vice versa. If you have a combination type skin, sticking to products meant for oily skin won’t take you anywhere.
Washing your face too much!
When you have an oily skin, your natural instinct might be to wash your face every hour to get rid of all the oil on your face. But, this might even make the situation worse as this way your skin would start producing more oil to balance all the washing.
Applying too much powder
Powder might work great for keeping your T-zone under balance, but overdoing it might give you a cake face.

Not using blotting sheets
Powder might be great, but blotting sheets are what you need! They remove the extra grease from the T-zone without making you look like a clown!
You might avoid masks thinking that your skin is already too much hydrated. But, the only job of the mask is not only to keep your skin hydrated and avoid acne, but it also helps you in balancing the oil levels.
Not using an oil based cleanser
If you have an oily skin, it is all the more essential to include double cleansing in your daily regime. The water based cleanser helps you in getting rid of water based makeup, whereas oil-based cleanser helps you in getting rid of oil and oil-based makeup.
You wash your face too much aggressively
Be sweet with your skin. Washing your face too aggressively would surely not wipe out all the oil from your skin, but you would only end up irritating your skin. So, be gentle.

Using products that dry out your skin
Well, the goal here is to keep your skin balanced, and care should be taken that you are not wiping out the essential oils from your face.
